TulsaGeoff Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 (edited) Tigerdirect is currently selling these older cards for pretty cheap. It may be an upgrade for someone or it would make a good backup card for when your main card goes out. I have an old 7800GT in the closet which is extremely nice to have! It should be plenty to play COD 4, TF2, and ET. I'd want something more for the new games though. You have to have a PCI-e motherboard to use this. XFX GeForce 9600 GSO PVT96OYHF7 Video Card - 512MB, GDDR3, PCI-Express 2.0, 1x Dual-link DVI-I, 1x HDMI, DirectX 10, SLI Ready, Fan http://www.tigerdire...ic...5&csid=_61 This shows a review between the 9800GT (Which is a step up from this card, but same generation) vs the new cards: http://pcper.com/rev...Comparison-9800 Edited October 12, 2012 by TulsaGeoff Quote
Buckwild Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 (edited) This Is a $25 PCIe video card, $10 rebate after buying. There's a lot of these 'cheap' cards lately. Performance Is very low in games. My $50 AGP GeForce 6600 GT rates better. http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/video_lookup.php?gpu=GeForce+9600+GSO&id=1309 Edited October 12, 2012 by Buckwild Quote
TulsaGeoff Posted October 12, 2012 Author Posted October 12, 2012 (edited) That card is CONSIDERABLY better than a 6600gt. The 9600 GSO is basically a 8800GTS. It is faster than a 7800gt and the 7800gt is much faster than the AGP 6600GT. So for people with old videocards this may be an upgrade for the price of a meal. Again it is old technology and it is only good for low graphic games. Edited October 12, 2012 by TulsaGeoff Quote
DJ aka GDR DJ Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 (edited) unofficial rank your 6600 GT is 776. and the 9600GSO is 321. source TulsaGeoff has right the 9600GSO is faster as your 6600GT !!! Edited October 12, 2012 by DJ aka GDR DJ Quote
TulsaGeoff Posted October 12, 2012 Author Posted October 12, 2012 I've had several cards that have failed within the past 5 years or so. It is nice having a backup card to play ET and browse the net while my card is being rmaed by the manufacturer as I stated above. It's nice to have a backup and this one will play many of the FA hosted games instead of being down a couple weeks. Quote
Buckwild Posted October 13, 2012 Posted October 13, 2012 Yeah, Maybe I should buy one, $40 before rebate + shipping. This offer Is only good till end of October. I'm looking for a PCIe card to complete My old system restoration and have little money. Quote
