I used to play paintball. I was part of an amateur 5 man team during 1997 - 2000. One of my buddies on the team moved to Arizona and started his own shop and has rentals and 4 fields for paintball now. In 1999 we played in the Spider Cup in Pittsburgh with 1st place prizes of 5, 2000 model Ford Mustangs. We made it to the semi-finals and knocked out the #2 ranked team from qualifying for the finals. We never made it ourselves but enjoyed the trip and experience.

I still have all my gear but with prices on paint I stopped playing a long time ago. I was spending $100-150 a week on paint at the time. One of my favorite matches was against the local police department. We used an old farm house on one of my friends property and staged a hostage rescue situation with us as the bad guys and the police as . . . well the police. We set up a time limit of 30 minutes for them to rescue the hostage or we would execute him. The hostage was an officer who volunteered to play the role. In the end we wound up ambushing the police and managed to take out the entire hostage rescue team. We used paint land mines, grenades and a homemade paint (flame) thrower with numerous booby traps set up throughout the field of play. Needless to say the police were very upset at the end of the day :D

It is, but at the same time it's a total rip-off. If you do start, try to find people around you to go with. Alot of people around me have sponsorships with the local shops and will help me get a good deal. You would think that the gun is the pricey part, but no, I have probably spent 20x the money on gas and paint than my gun xD And it would be more if i didnt paintball in the wooded area my friend owns. Paintball stadium places rip you off
