Hey guys,

I read in a tutorial (originally made for CS:S, it was posted on the forum here) a big way to get rid of Windows mouse acceleration is to (in XP) go to add/remove programs and disable/remove your mouse drivers.. Then use CPL Mousefix (which i've tried before, may try again). [There is more I can do of course, but these seem basic].

I just feel iffy about deleting the drivers. I'm not on that computer now, so I don't remember the exact mouse type. I do believe it is Microsoft, though.

The reason I'm worried is I deleted my sound driver once :eek (but its fine now)

Thoughts? Thanks!

All you have to do is open your Mouse control panel (depends on your version of Windows) and go to the Pointer Options tab and make sure "Enhance Pointer Precision" is disabled.

If you search online, you might find all sorts of "fixes" for it, but there's no reason to uninstall your drivers. All that would accomplish is reset it back to defaults, which would be... acceleration enabled.

I wouldn't uninstall my mouse drivers, it's useless (unless drivers add acceleration, which is generally not the case for any decent mouse). Just patch the registry or do whatever thing needed to remove acceleration, but leave the drivers alone.

Actually, with my mouse drivers (logitech) you can even remove accel without messing with windows registry, by setting 'setpoint implementation' (instead of os implementation), so why removing them?

Just check ingame if you have acceleration or not. If you don't then you don't need to uninstall any driver.

Wow, I read about and tried the 'enhanced pointer precision' thing and it REALLY took nearly all of that acceleration out; as a result, i bumped my sens from 1.2 to 1.5. That just doesn't completely sound like something that would drastically affect acceleration like that.

Maybe its placebo, but when i first did it and got used to it, I felt like I was aiming more precisely/evenly with headshots.

I'll start paying more attention because I think I went back to normal or something, I dunno.

It was totally weird at first!

But what about all these other fixes like CPL? Of course my test isn't 100% always accurate, but just doing a human test won't be (in checking my acceleration).

But its definitely on point. Much, much, much if not nearly all eliminated. Heh. I could do this for any computer I logon to get used to ET :yahoo kidding! Kind of, haha

Thanks guys!
