random changes

hey all, wondering if someone could help me with a problem. when i recently connected to the hardcore server, my cg_autoaction had changed to 1 for some reason, and my chat text doesn't show up (besides in console) and now i can't get that back. i've fixed the autoaction, but the text won't come back :[ not too big a deal, just can't see who is asking for med or talking. i've tried b_popuptime, cg_chattime, and cg_teamchattime. i think there's another command to see the chat text though but i can't figure it out. thanks for reading :]

mine is already set to 3.. i tried 4 just in case, but nothing changed. thanks for the help though :]

 

i've also tried /exec etconfig to get it back to normal and that didn't work.

what about cg_teamChatTime? note that it is in milliseconds, so 1000 = 1 second, don't set it too low. I have 99999

and cg_noVoiceText 0

yeah i have teamchattime set to 9999 and novoicetext to 0.. :\ unless it's server side, which i don't see how that would make sense, i'm completely lost. thanks for your help sunlight, i appreciate it.

my autoaction is set to "0" on Hardcore and everything shows up on my end

@sykotic, autoaction was a different issue, any time i picked up binocs it would switch from my gun (even if i was in a fire fight) to the binoculars and it wouldn't stop after just 1 it happened no matter how many i picked up lol.. but that's fixed

Then it should be some cvar I don't know, I generally play jaymod or etpro I am not an expert of silent mod cvars.

Have you tried cg_chatAlpha ? Or maybe you edited your hud, I don't know if it's possible to hide your chat area. It must be some cvar you just have to find out which.

 

One thing you can do, is making a backup of your profiles folder (the one inside silent folder) then delete it from there. (or just the etconfig.cfg there, you don't need to remove the whole folder)

When you play, a new one will be created with default settings, and if you have solved your issue you could check what's changed with one of those text diff software, if you don't solve you can still put your profile folder back from the copy you made.

yeah not a bad idea sunlight.. i generally play etpro and my chat works fine their so i'm good. i haven't been on the server lately so when i get on i'll give these things a try. thanks again, i really appreciate it :]

ahh ok, I am illiterate when it comes to understanding configs so wasn't sure really what autoaction was for LOL
