It's like a blog, that's probably the best way of describing it. Any of the tumblrs I've seen have been of random pictures reblogged, a few blogs and discussions and also some people use it as a website :)

Here is my tumblr, although I rarely use it anymore.. Might start using it again :)

Indeed it's basically a blogging system but generally it's a place of media blogging rather than anything else (although as hobbit said, people do blog normally on it sometimes)..

It's awesome for lulz when you're bored and your regular forums are dead :P
