I don't know much about silent mod, but can anyone enlighten me as to whether its possible to change medics so they cannot use their own medpacks? I'm not asking for the change on the server at this point (although that'll be my next question), I'm just wondering if it's possible with that mod. Thanks!

It is possible as Max mentioned but very odd to find a server that his on, can't really remember the last time I ran into such a server myself

I dont know how works or what to do to happend but there is a bug that sometimes medics cannot pick up his own medic packs (need to press f). But that error can be fix reconecting

Just to clarify when this happens you need to restart ET entirely, not just reconnect I am sure that is what you meant :D

Ok ill bite, why would you be opposed to that setting? And would you be for it on any other server or you just opposed to it in general?

Your a medic, you should be able to heal, even yourself. It would be really inconvenient to not be able to heal yourself and have to find another medic to do your job.

I agree with you. However hardcore, with FF enabled, makes me think (and correct me if I'm wrong) that the players on there are also hardcore. This seems to not be the case. (And I'm not talking about clan members, just random players, although most of them, so far, have been playing every day.)

 

Most of the medics I have encountered make me think the only reason they carry medpacks is to heal themselves. I've seen very few actually shadow any engineers to try to either blow up the objective, defuse it, defend it, or anything else related to that. They just go on their merry way, making sure they themselves are full, and not even flinching when the phrase "dynamite planted" is heard.

 

I've seen several servers with this setting on them, although I can imagine the newer, less-experienced players probably wouldn't like it, I'm positive I can recruit more experienced folks based on advertising "no rambo meds".

Im not trying to attack anyone with this comment but why poeple try to make our Hardcore server "Superhardcore" server???

Then why dont we put arty allow for more than 2 field ops or why dont we change the settings for snipers when they are aiming down sights doesnt show the cross or why dont allow more than 1 panser per team.............

 

This is my humble opinion, Hardcore is a pretty good server as it is, except that it have many useless maps than i need to depurate and make a list of them to get rid of them from the rotation.

I'm sorry if this question or some like it have been brought up before. I realize I'm new, and I don't want to just jump in and change everything. I'm an adult and am capable of "discussing" something without arguing over it if that makes sense. I'll probably ask a lot of "dumb" questions, that's how we learn. I appreciate you bearing with me.

 

I didn't realize I was trying to make the server super hard core, just opened the topic for some friendly discussion. I could also ask for bullet drop to be turned on, or all sorts of other settings too, but the medpack one seemed to be the issue I found the most pressing.

 

Maybe the better question should be are there any plans for a "super hardcore" server that comes with some expectation of experience before the players get on?

About some questions you can have, you can ask all questions you have and i and all our friends around us going to try to answer them. Feel free to ask :)

no offense taken, that's why I wanted to discuss it. :) It just seems like there's a very wide array of players with various experience. I was just trying to brainstorm ways to get maybe more of the same experience level grouped in one server. Any ideas for that or am I barking up the wrong tree? :)

IMO, I think with this setting, the server would die...die as in, not many will connect and play. I admit I heal myself when low on HP.. but, I don't see the self healing rambos as a big problem. I, as well as many other players, heal those who need a medic whether or not they are doing the objective(s).

At the end of the day, knowing that the server is a pub server with a variety of skill levels players wont be as focused on the obj even though supposedly hardcore and silent are "more obj oriented" than the jaymod servers. Sure theirs always the players who do the obj but Ive found that usually the obj only gets finished if the team has one or two great aimers who destroy the other team and allow the very few obj minded players to do the obj.
