Raters' clan

What is the raison d'etre of the raters' clans? they play on foreign servers so they can't hold tournaments, they don't have any material, what do they do together, what plus do they get from teaming up? Is it just for the looks, for the bragging rights that comes from building up a niveau?

Yes basically. But that's my guess, I'm not in a rating clan/rater so I can't tell you for sure

Some people enjoy playing for objective, some peoples objective is to rate. People have preferences on what they enjoy its just how it is.

You are asking what is the reason for rate clans? there's many reasons for clans, to have a group of friends to scrim with, make a clan grow with many members, to become popular, discussed clan related issues, recruitment, etc. there is no difference in a "rate clan" other than the clan simply likes to rate. and I'm not gonna get into why people rate, there's many reasons, some people enjoy hacking this game to death, some say rate kills ET but they should also be saying that hackers kill it, and each player, doesn't matter if its a rater or not, they still fill up servers.

Many of these raters have levels in FA servers and they know how to use the commands. There are also many rating clans with own servers, which are not much different than your servers.

And what do you mean with, they dont have any material? Material for what?

Why do you "teaming up" with fa? raters are not much different.

What is a added benefit ? And do you joined FA for a different reason than playing et with ppl you like? Being in a group of ppl you like? I dont see any differences.

Not all rater are camping-adren-whores. But usualy, if a rater plays different and more obj, ppl call him xp-whore.

 

 

Im now in a rating clan, even if i dont rate. But i dont see any difference in this clan than in enemies of war or fearless assassins, the clans i was in before.

I was never in a rating clan, but I guess they have forums/etc to share their gaming experiences.

 

There are 'real/actual' teams (a group of people who play together against other teams with tactics, etc. in a private server) for fun or in tournaments, you have also communities or clans who have one or more public servers, and enjoy playing together, but not as a team, and together/mixed with other players.

Then you have rating clans, who might have a server or not, but they usually play in other servers. Some rating clans have servers and also play matches against other teams, there's many different things

 

I agree with you that If they just shared some colors/tag, and nothing else, it wouln't make much sense for me, but if it does for them then good for them

 

I don't think that rating ruined ET, but personally I don't like most raters, because they generally have a huge ego. And in order to get points, they have to play against players who are much weaker than them, and with stacked teams, otherwise their rating will be lower than the one of people who do such things, so they are forced to do it and they probably even enjoy it.

I detest when (after a game is over) they make comments like 'omg i sucked, only 100 kills and 40 deaths', because I think that's an insult to beginners, and because if they didn't play in servers for/with beginners, they would make 40-40. Let alone the fact that you find a huge amount of chronic whiners among them, then you read their rules and the say 'no whiners' 'whiners are not welcome' etc. what a joke...

 

Plus, rating sort of sucks. I remember a map where I was highest fragger, then next map a rater said 'damn I got -0.14' (I don't play for rating so I'm underrated especially if I play with another name), out of curiosity I checked, and he got a minus, but he had a much higher xp score than mine, though his real score ingame sucked (less kills and less damage and damage ratio than I did, despite the fact that I don't even try to get as much kills as possible hunting nubs, generally I hunt 'good' players).

So it's a skill, nobody can deny it, but it tells you how skilled you are to do *exactly that*, namely the ability to make as much xp per minute as possible against beginners, and rename if you can't do it. Can I do that better than them? Probably not, but I don't care either.

 

I would worship raters as gods if rating took *only* skill, and not a mix of skill, and renaming/stacking/playing against beginners, then quit after they get a plus.

If they made a specific mod for rating, not based on xp but real fighting skills (with an elo system to avoid nob bashing, guid based to avoid too much renaming, and based on some meaningful data and not xp) then I would enjoy rating too, but,

back to topic,

just alone, not in a 'rating clan', because I don't see much the point. I see rating as an individual alternative for people who like to have some competition, but for choice or other reasons they don't play in a team.

Most of raters have a big ego so are whiners.

I always liked to play any game i played with something like a competition ranking. But xp whorers/whiners/stackers destroy that fun.

Also, 90% of those clans only "live" 1 month and you still see the same guys over and over with same mates but different tag.

I don't think of myself as a good et player. Although im in the top 20 on tb, when I go to etpub servers im noramlly bottom ranked. There are alot better players than any jaymod player on Etpro and pub. I like to play Etpro and pub alot to learn off other players and stratergies in games. Et is a much bigger game then rating, but rating is a big part for some.

I agree that having a goal to reach makes the game definitely more fun, and whiners are fun too (actually on etpro servers it's so boring sometimes, because nobody whines or says a word) well, I mean 'normal' whiners, not big trolls who accuse everyone of cheating just to piss them off and start an argument (yes, there are such despicable individuals sometimes).

 

But the problem is the way it works, rating would be fun if you could rate anywhere, or maybe even playing only with pistol and still get a plus, which will never be, given that it's based on xp, and quantity over quality.

 

And it's essentially an individual score, I don't think there is any teamplay involved (aside from those lame situations like one fieldops + a medic farming together ) so I don't see much difference between rating alone or rating in a clan, the only thing that comes to my mind is something on the lines of 'wow I belong to clan ... cool!'

Well being in a rating clan is so you can talk to your fellow gamers about the game, rating and give each other tips. If your not in a clan you can do it but it is alot better in a clan whether you rate or not. You get to know certain people better, and its more fun when your in the game and you see a clan mate and it doesn't matter (To me ) what team they are on, i Like it if they are on the other team cause its more challanging.
