A little about Vig(orish)

Greetings!

Spring of last year I really wanted some new distraction for the computer, so I stopped on the way home from work and randomly picked up COD4. After completing the single player, I ran through the multiplayer servers. I found myself each time coming back to F|A that first month, and never looked back. The people were nice and conversed, the maps changed, the admins kept things in line. And what a challenge! Overall a community. I then spent some time each game spectating the F|A members; it paid off learning from them, whether they realized that was why I was spectating... I can hold my own now. Since then I look forward to some time after work - unwinding by shooting my favorite targets, and listening (reading) to them talk about their day. It continues to be a good time. :)

About the game(maps and game types): I really like the mix of game types in the rotations. 'Domination' is a favorite game type, but it wouldn't work if for me if it was every round. Also 'search & destroy', 'sabotage' and 'headquarters' are fun. The sets of map rotations are well done by F|A. I understand everyone likes 'crossfire' and 'broadcast', but I like the others much better; particularly "Countdown", "Backlot", "Overgrown" and "Pipeline". I don't need to tell you that the good design of those maps allows the varied game types to work in each of them, thus changing the map and keeping that same map fresh in each rotation.

About the game(weapons and style: camp/charge): Most of you know me as a charger. (not that I have anything against camping/setting up) That charging sort of sets my need for weps / abilities. Generally I like some UAV and sprinting. Now that I've learned a bit, I try to scale my weapon selection to the population of the map at the moment. So sometimes you'll see me just carry the pistol for example when the server count is low. Or if many are on I allow myself a different weapon. Of course I like the easy p90 with silencer, bomb detect, uav and sprinting, even though it is overused. My favorite overall weapon is the single shot G3. My aging fingers need automatic some nights though unlike you people... for example it's fun to hear my F|A opponents fire off a whole clip in the time it takes me to fire 2 times. I have the good (bad) habit of reimaging my PC, so subsequently I wipe my COD4 data... and have to start over with Private rank. (Recently did that) I then have to climb back to all abilities, weapons etc. But, all of you are so kind to leave your advanced weapons by your dead bodies at my feet...

About me: I've lived in Minnesota for over 7 years now; it is important during the winter to have indoor hobbies, like COD4. I enjoy walking in the outdoors. I'm old enough to have played Pong as a kid on black & white TV - it took 3 size D batteries I think. My first shooter was Doom, but I really never played multiplayer shooters much until years later with ET: Wolfenstein. So I've been on the computer a lot of my life, especially since I also do that for work.

I want to thank Hannah for her continued hospitality and urging me to apply, and thanks for the support of all of you, especially the good discussions with Theo. All of you have been great, and so many of your names, discussions and attitudes I look forward to seeing during every week. I hope to help give some of the time and camaraderie back. By the way, shout out to 'Slick-Bud': stay off that tank buddy - I'm looking for you there now! Thanks F|A. ;)
