Any owners or previous owners of the famed Shelby Cobra? I had a 1967 GT500, color lime gold. boy could that car fly. Not much off the line but get her to third gear and look out. And the sound when you backed off it, well it rumbled. I used to have police pull me over just to get a look at it. I had to sell it to go to college and it broke my heart. Looking at the prices of one now it breaks my heart more. Tell me any of your Shelby stories.

Abner think you have a typo ...believe you mean Shelby Mustang. Nice cars my father was a Mustang man his best was the 1968 Cobra Jet 428.

No they were called Shelby Cobras. Ford also put out the Boss series which offered the Cobra Jet engine in the 289 or the 428. The Shelbys ran from 1966 to 1969 but the most desirable years being 1966 and 1967. In 1968 Carroll Shelby change the body style and I was not fond of those. You can see in the resale prices. Boy I can still remember driving down Sheridan Drive looking for someone to run against. There was one 350 Malibu that was just a screamer and no one could touch it.

I am pretty sure the cobra tag was only used for 68 model years then dropped again in 69. When someone uses the term Cobra I automatically think of the real AC Cobras not Shelby Mustang models. But none the less a very nice and desirable car.

I had an AC shelby not the mustang one. First day I got it, went to a friend's place all decked out, honked the horn, got out and leaned against the side of the car looking cool....Well, for half a sec anyway...That's when I burnt both my ankles on the side exhaust pipe. So when he came out, I wasn't looking cool but jumping up and down on his front lawn going, "oh f***, oh shit, oh f***"....

bought one just like this from my ex-girlfriend for $100. (back in the 1980s)

she thought it was ruined but just needed a tune up.

I ended up trading it for a motorcycle but now I wish I still had it.

this model was know as the farrah fawcett cobra

(she was a hottie on Charlies Angels a million years ago)

you idiot:)

Those cars are awesome.............europe is boring when it comes to cars. Or at least, The Netherlands are. Fast cars are hella expensive, so you rarely see them on the streets.

I was fortunate enough be a teenager during the muscle car era.

We would go out and street race every weekend.

My car at that time was a 1962 chevy with a 396ci from a 1967 Chevelle,

had all the whistles and bells, 4 speed Hurst competition shifter, Holley

4 barrell double pumper and so on...

It was great time but with the price of gas now all those cars will disappear

from the streets.,

You know it sucks to be old now but I would not change the time frame that

I have lived. BTW when you don't have great gaming you find yourself building

hot rods.

Since you guys are talking Cobras I thought I'd share some that I saw at the Barrett Jackson show they had near me from 2 weeks ago. I've only seen the hardtop version on TV, it was cool to see it in person.
