Chuckun Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Google start an online magazine! "Think Quarterly" Today Google quietly launched their own online magazine, edited and designed by creative agency The Church of London. The magazine will be issued quarterly, and is said to have the aim of creating a "breathing space in a busy world". Google however do not call this project a magazine, and instead call it a book on their website, and a "unique communications tool" on their Twitter. Edition #1 of the magazine is a 68 page publication delving into the world of data and its effect on business in general. The magazine is displayed through a very aesthetically pleasing and easily navigable Flash application. And underneath the eye-pleasing work, is some creative, inspiring writing similar to similar publications such as BusinessWeek. The articles found within the quarterly publication cover technology and major business topics from various freelance writers and contributors. Google has impressively clutched at several editors from various magazines such as The Guardian's Datablog and WE Magazine; including Simon Rogers (G-Db) and Ulrike Reinhard (WE-M), who will be participating in the project. Google's executives and techno-gurus will be involved in writing for the project, which will be an interesting addition to cyber-workers daily reading. "At Google, we often think that speed is the forgotten 'killer application' -- the ingredient that can differentiate winners from the rest," "We know that the faster we deliver results, the more useful people find our service." "But in a world of accelerating change, we all need time to reflect. Think Quarterly is a breathing space in a busy world. It's a place to take time out and consider what's happening and why it matters." - Matt Brittin, Google's managing director of UK & Ireland operations. (Taken from the introduction of Think Quarterly.) Right now it's uncertain whether or not Think Quarterly is symbolic that Google is entering the media business or whether it's just another project to occupy the intelligent minds at Google.
