Other I need to know what software I should use to view demos from cheater reports

What do you guys generally use ? I have VLC media but it doesn't read the videos I download.

I use this:

i do not think there is any other program besides ET that could run the demo file. By this i mean any video player.

Did you add it to the folder where the game is located? Remember, it must be 6b client

It should be in the same directory as your ET.exe and ETED.exe and it should look like as it does in @razjee’s post. Also you have the demo viewer .exe in a folder. Take it out of the folder and put it in the directory with your ET.exe.

Really ? That's a shame. I really wanted to be one of those cheater busters. Hmph, oh well... I'll just wait until someone releases a demo viewer for legacy mod I guess.

I mean, You could always install a 2.60b separately (i have done that myself) and use it only for demo viewing.

Yea install 2.60b. you can run both version. So if you record demo in ETL just copy/paste that demo to 2.60b, I do that also

Mod etlegacy has updated viewing of replays in game 😄 but for other mods if u want watch demos and jump between timestamps you need client 6b to run the demo viewer.

*if u record demo on eg. jaymod you must paste that in folder demos in jaymod folder in 6b client.

Load it 2 times i think

1. Open the game

2. Bring out the console

3. type /demo  [name of the demo]

 

No need to install anything.

 

At least, that's how i do it.

 

Further points to consider:

- If it doesn't find out the demo, you need to load the appropriate mod so the file path will be the right one

- Before that, you might want to rename the demo file to something easy, like the name of the player you are focusing on.

- The file extension is dm_83 by default, if it's not the case, like its dm_84 or else, you need to type the full file name. Ex: /demo snakey   =>  /demo snakey.dm_84

As @Leatherface said you can copy paste the legacy demo into 2.6b install of the game and run  demo viewer that way to view it via the viewer. 
 

the in game demo viewer works just fine imo. I’d suggest creating a config specifically for demo viewing. One that has key binds for time scaling, shownormals, etc etc. simplified graphics, the whole shibang. This way you can get the most out of your demo experience without the hesitation of typing in commands while viewing demo to get the views you want.

What'll do is I will try Snake's method first. Then, I think I'll take an already existing configuration to win time. I'll just make modifications if needed. But making a config from scratch sounds tedious to do (especially since there are commands I still don't know the use for).
