Hello everyone!

Yesterday I donated blood with my co-workers, to help a soldier's mother-in-law. It was my first time donating blood, I was a little bit anxious... Fortunately it all went well. It is really calm.

Here are some facts I didn't know about:

-When you donate, they collect 500ml of blood (Aprox. 10% of your body's volume of blood);

-50 ml of blood is collected for STD testing;

-Your body takes about 1-2 days to recompose the volume of blood donated;

-The red blood cells take about 4-8 weeks to recompose;

-The zinc levels take about 1-3 months to recompose;

-You get snacks before and after donating;

-A single 500ml donation can save up to 4 lives!!;

-Men can donate every 2 months, limited to 4 times in a year;

-Women can donate every 3 months, limited to 3 times in a year.

Thank God none of my relatives needed a blood donation yet, I am really grateful for that 🙏

Tell me about your experiences, have you ever donated blood? Did you guys know about those interesting facts?

The nice thing about donating blood is that it is free, we don't need to spend any money, and we will be saving someone's life, it is really peaceful!

I've never donated blood. But I know that if I had a seriously ill relative or friend, I would definitely do it.

From here, I recognize your courage for wanting to help this person, especially because they truly needed it, so you have my respect!!!

In Poland, at least where i donate it is a box of chocolate and sometimes some other stuff. I have some T-shirts, mugs, even vouchers to different things like trampoline park.

I am a bit too old for that but my younger brother went and he was happy 😄

Nice!! In Brazil we get some peanuts, chocolate, cookies and cereal bars! I dont like needles too man, vaccines are fine, but when it comes to blood, I get very uncomfortable...

Really nice to know about that!

Congrats for being a regular donor!

Hey there, i have donated quite a few times, I think it's part of the civic duties, to support the community.

My blood is AB type so they don't want it for my red cells, so i donate blood for plasma and platelets.

Please note that as a men, you can also donate sperm :omgcat: but age limit is usually around 45 depending on the country.
