You need to either take ownership of the folder or you can add your user to the permissions and give accordignly. OR you can use something like Grantperm which will do it for you. 1 Quote
Bynke Posted June 18, 2023 Author Posted June 18, 2023 I wanna change permission on folders so i tried that i rigth click folder -- pick "show more options" -- i choose attributes - safety- advanced. Now i wanna do this so i can make my changes in my autoexec but when i go ahead and click make changes i get a whole window with nothing but grey options. At this stage my signature is very real. how do grantperm work. im on windows 11 with a danish setup i try to translate the menus and stuff. Thnak you for helping Quote
Solution Snuffs99 Posted June 18, 2023 Solution Posted June 18, 2023 (edited) Grantperm is easy, Download the right version for your system (32 or 64bit) run as admin, put the file or folder path into the white box then click unlock....done Example I want access to c:\games folder so put that path into grantperm Click unlock I now have full access to c:\games and its contents including subfolders etc Done. Snuffs99 Posted June 18, 2023 Posted June 18, 2023 OK try 1 Rt click the file you want to edit. 2 Go to properties 3 Security tab 4 Advanced 5 Add 6 Select principal 7 Advanced 8 Find Now 9 Select your user from the list 10 OK 11 Then select full control from the list 12 OK 13 Apply 14 OK That work? If not do the same again but this time but this time at step 11 don't select full control and instead select advanced permissions on the right Then select full control and you will also see that ownership should also change. 1 Quote
Bynke Posted June 18, 2023 Author Posted June 18, 2023 Yes it worked The ownership is now mine. i tried it on other files just to be sure. Thank you. 1 Quote
Snuffs99 Posted June 18, 2023 Posted June 18, 2023 Glad its sorted For ref if you ever need permissions for more than 1 file of a specific folder it can be easier in the long run to just do the above for the actual folder as it will then also change permissions for the folder and all files contained within, including sub folders and their contents. 1 Quote
