Some people may need assistance, I can understand that but the government needs to stop being so stupid when handing it out.

 

Where I live:

 

75% of people here are receiving some type of government assistance.

13% are unemployed .

79% African American.

Estimated median household income in 2008: $37,315

#79 on the list of "Top 100 least-safe cities" lol crime was 3x the U.S. average in 2008

 

People will take what ever they can get for free. The government just keeps giving more and more.

I have a couple relatives who get food stamps. One of them desperately needs it, the other person uses half the money to trade for beer and cigarettes and stuff like that. It is like a welfare check but they have to work a bit for it. He asks me every month if I need anything from the store, I tell him no.

 

We get free food from our neighbors for doing a few chores and for protecting the neighborhood. I let them use our computers too, they don't have a computer or internet and don't really know how to use it. Barter system lol.

 

Food stamps are a much better way to get money into the economy than these asinine bank bailouts. At least food stamp money has to be used for food somewhere, even if the food is used as a form of currency.

i lol'd cus its true. im a living example. i am receiving government assistance(food stamp)

i am currently unemployed(for the last two weeks )

and im african american.

thats true too. my mom used to buy 500 dollars of food stamps for 250 bucks from some girl. i had to make the 'transaction' a few times. she stayed in da hood.
