This is wrong because only your horizontal movement counts in the engine, when it comes to gaining speed. The vertical component of your mouse movement is ignored, so in theory you could gain speed with m_pitch 0.
Another weird exploit is that you'll go a little faster if you face the direction you're going vertically. So if your body is moving upwards as in the start of the jump, move your crosshair a bit upwards. Then as you are coming down, move it a bit down.
Of course if moving your mouse vertically helps you achieving the correct horizontal speed, then it's still a good idea, but vertical movement per se does nothing to your speed.
Another common misconception is that crouch jumping makes you go faster. It makes you look cool, and maybe you don't hit your head somewhere, plus your bodybox is smaller and your weapon spread too, but you actually lose speed.
Not true on etpro with b_fixedphysics 1 and probably also on jaymod if g_fixedPhysics is enabled. You can make a little test, provided that the server has standard gravity and all, which is rare to find nowadays outside etpro servers: try to jump with a single jump (not double) on the boxes in fueldump, or in goldrush near the cp, if you can do it even if you don't have any 'magic number' fps, then it means there is fixedphysics, pmove or something similar so you don't need to bother. If you can't jump on the box then you need magic fps, or pmove_fixed 1 (which is probably bugged if you don't play etpro, and also screws your sniping among other things).
Also, it's very important to cap your FPS at one of the magic numbers: 43, 76, 125, or 333.
