I have tried the patch selector before  (the uk) one  red versions...

but any time I tried it on 1.7 it worked  but I could NEVER goto 1.6

is there another version selector?  one that works?

I am about to try and re-install COD4 and copy and paste to make a second version  one for 1.6 and one for 1.7

I had the same problem as you, the patch selector didn't work at all for me, So at the advice of Baska and Demir, I reinstalled, duplicated my installs into folders named Activision 1.6 and Activision 1.7. Installed pb into both folders, and since I play 1.6 more, I have 1.6 running through xfire, so I can just enter to HC server with a single click, and I have to manually enter TDM Killbox through the COD server list.

It's probably not as easy as the patch selector/version changer, but more importantly, it works and allows me to play both servers.
