Wanted to share a moment I had just this morning at 8am that I thought was pretty funny. Although I was quite fed up, considering I'm still going through some not-needed drama from the L-word (that admins know about). I go to this gas station every morning before work to get a cup of hot chocolate. The staff knows me well and we often bullshit at times. There were two registers, and one of them was preoccupied by an older man with a large stomach being rung out on his order. The other register got open and I was called by one of my buddies over to buy my hot chocolate. As I put my purse on the counter to grab my wallet (I don't carry cash), the older man who is now next to me snapped at me. Note: I have 4 foxtails from different breeds of foxes hanging from my purse. They are all real. (To me) "Hey, GIRL!" Now, at this point, even the staff knows me well enough that shit will go down if you call me that, especially in a negative and derogatory manner, as he did. Me (turning to him): "Don't call me 'girl', boy." Him: Don't get your goddamn foxtail fur on my chillidog!" I look down to see there is quite a comfortable distance between my purse and his fatty food. He continues, "I don't understand how KIDS like you nowadays even carry shit like that!" The cashier froze, knowing I would snap back. Very calmly I said to the disgruntled, fat, old man: "I've been through more than enough shit and am completely independent in my life to be referred to as merely a 'girl'. Although I'm small in stature, I will not take shit from men like you. I also don't see why it's relevant as to why I have my tails, considering I don't ask why you're buying chillidogs at 8 in the morning. I figured that was your business." He snuffed his nose and turned away. I paid for my hot chocolate and got into my car to clock into work. I will never understand anyone's mentality of, 'I'm gonna snap at some random person for little to no reason to make myself look stronger'. It has never flown with me, and never will.
