So after spending a good bit of time on /r/WarThunder, it appears that many are upset about the current state of bombers in Ground Forces (especially Arcade, as many do not like, nor want to play RB or SB just yet). The main problem is this: Bombers should be used as rewards for doing well, but they are very very much mistreated. The first point: the 3 points required to get a bomber--why? It's insanely easy to get at that point, and once you get the three points, be prepared for a whole lot more because there is absolutely NOTHING that I can do to avoid certain death when I'm below (making that point 2). "Ronny, use your coaxial mg!" But sadly, it doesn't do much. By the time you can land any hits at all (if at all), the bomber has already released the bombs. What can we do to take it down? "Ronny, use AA!" But sitting at the back with AA is neither fun, nor helpful, because by the time the AA usually looks around, the bomber is already over friendlies. Most guys can't use the AA properly. "Well then, why don't you use the intended defense, the fighter planes?" This is a great option! Thanks for saying that. In the game, however, I am often spawned over 1-2km away from the bomber, making it impossible to catch up to the bomber to take it out before it drops the load once more. "What happens when you aren't spawned that far away though? You get the kill on the bomber, saving your friends, right?" Right again, and let me compliment you on your question-asking. HOWEVER, once I take out the bomber, someone calls ANOTHER one in 5 seconds later! That's right, time for the bomber spam (point 3). So, I just used my fighter and there is another bomber, what happens now? "Ronny, you must rely on a teammate to step up and defend." No. Nobody ever steps up to fight the bomber, and even if they would, isn't it annoying that to ensure my own continued survival, I must depend on some derpy guy that friendly fires and doesn't play the objective? I say no, I shouldn't have to deal with that. SO, to cut this rant short because I know everyone is also asking "Ronny, why do you complain so darn much?", I will ask you all about what Gaijin should do: 1) Remove bombers completely. 2) Up the amount of points required for a bombing run. 3) Set timers in-between runs so that you cannot call in bombers back to back. 4) Remove the bomber sight to make it harder to see where the bombs would go. 5) Buff AA and give them better rewards for killing planes so that people would actually want to use them. 6) Make it so that you have to have the plane in your line-up to use it, if it is destroyed, then you can't use it for the remainder of the game. 7) Reduce the radius of explosive effectiveness. 8) A combination of the above. 9) None of the above. Please say why you chose what you chose or offer other suggestions. Thanks, guys.
