ET W:ET installation on a 64BIT Linux Debian stable operating system
nUllSkillZ posted a topic in ET Discussion
The post describes the steps to install W:ET (32Bit) on a 64BIT Linux Debian stable (current: 11) operating system. In preparation of the W:ET installation (as "su"): apt update -y apt upgrade -y dpkg -–add-architecture i386 apt-get install -y libc6:i386 apt-get install lib32z1 Installation of W:ET (installation program found on the Splashdamage Homepage) as "su": ./et260b.x86_keygen_V03.run The two following pakets had to be installed on my PC because W:ET didn't start and showed error messages (as "su"): apt install libsdl1.2debian:i386 apt install libgl1:i386 If there are sound problems one could try the following script (not sure where I found it) (not sure if "su" is necessary): ./et-sdl-sound In the script there is the option for alsa or pulse (# is a comment symbol): # SDL audio driver #SDL_AUDIODRIVER="alsa" SDL_AUDIODRIVER="pulse" Remarks: The pakets might be named different on other linux distributions or Debian versions. The scripts / programs might have to be made executable with (.run as "su"): chmod +x et260b.x86_keygen_V03.run chmod +x et-sdl-sound -
Hello, I am new, and found your forum by accident. I was happy to see that there is a lot of interest in ET, I LOVE this game. I tried to join some servers, but kept getting errors and such. I've tried downloading the files, putting them in right spots, etc. So, right now, I am pretty frustrated, and instead, just want to start fresh. I did a little looking and I did not see any sort of step by step procedure, so my question is this: Would anyone be willing to take a few minutes, and list a step by step procedure for someone wanting to play, and assuming they had NOTHING on their computer? So from the very beginning, to the end? I think this way would be best, as my efforts prior have failed. If this has already been done, sorry, its late, and I don't mean to be redundant, just frustrated right now. Thanks! <3

[FIX] Install Shield Failing due to several unresolved issues
Chuckun posted a blog entry in Computers are Strange
Ok so I had to reinstall some software, and kept getting repeated installation failures even after system cleansing, restarts, safe mode, etc. Every time it would say: "Installation failed due to one or more unresolved issues. Error I-001" followed by "Error: Cannot find installation. Check this program is installed before attempting to install" - LOL?! Anyway, eventually I figured out that if you delete the following hidden folder, you remove the issue.. It's just InstallShield confusing itsself. C:/Program Files (x86)/InstallShield Installation Information/ <--- Delete that folder and start the installation again. Problem solved. Note: This is for Windows Vista/7 64bit.. For 32 bit I assume it will be in "Program Files" instead. Note 2: In Windows XP it should be C:/Program Files/common/InstallShield Installation Information/ - I found that info online and dont use XP any more so I cannot guarantee it. If ever you run into a similar problem, this solved them all for me without causing any problems. The folder is simply recreated properly. The folder you delete obviously has some corrupt / invalid data in it.- 8 comments
