Voice chat in ET?

Well, since i r teh n00b, I've got a question to ask...

 

is it possible to voice chat? (properly; with a mike, not the built in chat commands)

 

I *think* I remember reading a few things that mention being able to do it over xfire, but in any case, I have no idea how. also, if it is possible, do people regularly voice chat over normal servers; or the A|S servers?

er, you mean like talk to other people in server using mike? Because, if you install vent you can use that. Just run as same time as ET and press the apporipate key to talk. No guarntee of who you'll be getting since you can only speak to other people who have installed it and are on it at the same time as you.

 

But anyways is this what you meant? Cause i'll go into more detail if so

Yeah that's what I mean, sorry if I wasn't clear. I'd love to get some more details, but I'll look it up too. Just one thing I'd really like to know - how often is it used? I'd love to chat in game but I guess it's not worth installing the software if no one else has it.

A lot of ET Clans use Vent and often have their own Vent server. This clan has a vent server

I know quite a few people can be found on vent - Rainer, Granny, Joe etc. What happens is you download it from the site

Well i presume you run Windows so choose either the 32-bit or 64-bit version under the 'Client Programs' (depending on whether you have a 32-bit or 64-bit processer of course)

 

Then you install, type in the info for a clans server, and connect. That's it - all you need then is a mike.

 

Not everyone will be on all the time. Sometimes yo will go on and it will only be you. Other times its a party. It just depends on whetehr other people are on or not
