A Sharper Scaling

A Sharper Scaling does one job extremely well: it increases the size of images while preserving an impressive amount of detail. The results are often considerably better than could be achieved with a regular photo editor, which tend to produce blurry snapshots.

A Sharper Scaling can’t create additional detail that isn’t present in the original photo, but the results it produces are consistently crisper than bicubic interpolation – a technique used by most photo editors that involves simply repeating pixels, then smoothing out the results.

Why you need it

A Sharper Scaling is extremely easy to use. Simply paste in an image from your clipboard or open one from your PC, set the target size (and crop area, if you like), and click the Preview button. You’ll be presented with a side-by-side comparison showing A Sharper Scaling’s results compared to bicubic interpolation (with out without sharpening), simple pixel repeat, and bilinear interpolation.

It can’t rotate or skew images by itself, but A Sharper Scaling can help you get better results when you perform these actions in a different program. Upscale the image in A Sharper Scaling before rotating it, then resize it back down to preserve as much detail as possible.

If you’re happy, the resized image can be saved as a new file or copied to your clipboard with a single click. A Sharper Scaling is incredibly straightforward and brilliantly executed. A great addition to your photo-editing arsenal.
