The holidays are an expensive time, so we’re bringing you a special treat: a full, free, fun Windows program to download every day until Christmas.

Behind the 20th door on our free downloads advent calendar you'll find Fotomorph – a fun, free program for making your own morphing animations. It's easy to use, and the results look fantastic.

Just import one or more photos, choose a type of morph to create (single morph, distortion or combination) and adjust a few settings, and your animation will be created in seconds

Face to face

The images you use need to be the same size and shape, so you might need to crop or resize them first using a free photo editor like GIMP or Paint.NET.

Fotomorph works best with photos of people, and you can use its Control options to map the two faces so their features morph smoothly.

The other options available are Warp, which lets you smear or otherwise adjust part of a single picture (great fun for changing a facial expression), pan, and zoom. The latter two aren't as silly, but can be useful for creating animated slideshows.
