Star Factories: Nuclear Fusion and the Creation of the Elements

Supernovae explosions happen when a high mass star's core runs out of fuel.

In a star, The fusion reactions outward force balances gravity.

Giant stars will be fusing hydrogen into helium, But the high temperatures and pressure in

large stars will fuse helium into carbon, carbon into oxygen..neon, magnesium,

silicon and finally iron, All at the same time.

Fusing iron doesn't produce energy, leading to a collapse from gravity.

Then during the explosion, All kinds of heavier elements are formed.
