Didnt know where to post this so I put it here.  This is a true guy that I knew a few years ago.

 

1973

 

I was in my post grad studies in Xray and lived in Tacoma, Washington.

 

I got an order to go and do a chest xray on the next patient.  His name was Daryl Hancock.

 

While the films were drying, I started up a conversation with him and it turned out he was a well

known guitarist in the local club scene in Seattle and Tacoma.  But his real money earner was this:

 

He played the wah-wah guitar on 90 % of the old porn movies they made in Seattle.

 

If you have never seen one of those old 8mm or 16mm films from the 60's or 70's you have never

heard of this.

 

Every one of those old films had a wah-wah guitar sound in them.  Most likely it was Daryl.

 

I saw Daryl one night at the old Starry Night Ball Room up in Portland, playing with rock/blues band.

He didn't remember me until I told him that I took his chest xray in Tacoma.  We talked a few minutes

and he had given that up, and was touring with a bunch of different bands.

 

He lived out his days in Redmond, Oregon.  He could tell some great stories about when the big rock

bands got started in the 70's and later.  I hadn't seen him for about 10 years now.

 

Here's to you Daryl...king of the wah-wah guitar.
