AMC has renewed its zombie drama, The Walking Dead, for a seventh season. It's no surprise the network chose to commission an additional set of episodes, considering it's one of the biggest and most talked about shows currently on television. In addition, the network has re-upped the live after-show The Talking Dead, which airs following the flagship show every Sunday. The Talking Dead is hosted by Chris Hardwick.

The show holds onto its title as the #1 series among adults 18-49 for the third year in a row, an impressive factoid that likely influenced the decision to push forward with the serial. Except for its air date of October 2016, there's little we know about that future season, mainly because any info would spoil what's occurring at the moment. However, it has been rumored that comic book baddie Negan is on the cards - possibly with a season six finale cameo - and that he might be played by Mad Men's Jon Hamm.

Returning to executive produce next year's season are long-term Dead producers Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, David Alpert, Greg Nicotero and Tom Luse, with Scott Gimple acting as showrunner. The Walking Dead airs Sunday nights on AMC.
