Facebook functionality is being removed from older PlayStation platforms, Sony's support website has announced. The affected platforms are PlayStation 3, PS Vita and PS TV.

The tentative target for full support "termination" is January 2016, and PS3/Vita/TV Facebook applications have already been removed from the PlayStation Store.

"In January 2016 Sony Computer Entertainment will terminate support for the Facebook features integrated within the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita systems, as well as the Facebook applications for PlayStation Vita and PlayStation TV," the announcement read. "In anticipation of this change, the Facebook applications will no longer be available for download from PlayStation Store as of 15 September, 2015.

"We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and we appreciate your understanding."
