I was wondering if there was a particular reason that you can't sit on spectator to watch somebody without having to worry about inactivity kick? There probably is but I figured I'd ask and if somebody already asked this I do apologize, I did look first.

Well simply because there is a lot of people trying to connect but they can't because the server is full, and the players that are trying to connect would probably play.

Is there a way for the server to distinguish whether or not the server is full, and when it's not, the inactivity kick could be deactivated, vise versa? Is that a good idea?

It's been on our servers for quite some time so I don't see the need for changing it because no really complaints about it.

From jay2 you won't get kicked if you go to spec to be afk :P
