I checked my build (MSI Red and Black Gaming) to see how far off budget I was as I wanted to keep it around the 1k mark.  Not too bad as total came to about $1,250.00.  Now if I add a 1TB hard drive it will push it up to about $1300 total, but I can live with that.  It all started with buying a new GPU for my old computer and I found it was too fast for my old CPU so I built my PC around the GPU (odd I know, but what the heck). A couple of things I picked up at BestBuy and may have paid too much for so keep that in mind.  The rest came from NewEgg.  The only thing I salvaged from my old PC was the PoweSupply (cost added in total as I had replace it only a year prior), the case, keyboard/mouse, and monitor.  A few here know of my exploits in this endeavor which was completed and overall a fun challenge.  Had i spent a little more time planning and talking to people like LA, I am sure I could have come out a little better in the long run on cost.
