razi Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 @sunlight: i can easily tell with 192cbr or lame -v0, but it gets tougher to distinguish above 256cbr, and 320cbr sounds practically the same fyi: my old motherboard had a "realtek hd" onboard audio and i thought it was terrible. upgrading to the x-fi fatality at the time made a huge difference, especially with movies and gaming and high end audio. i agree that for most people you could spend the $ on other things in your machine and get more bang for ur buck but its true of most hardware, there is always a law of diminishing returns. it always costs a lot more money to get that small incremental increase in performance at the higher levels. 1 Quote
