My account is back.

I have no idea what happened. I was playing one day and then the game crashed. I booted it back up and everything was gone. My entire account was gone. You might remember me posting about that... Anyways, I created a new account and started working my way back to lvl. 50. After several months I got to about 40 when I gave up and bought Modern Warfare 2. I've been playing that non-stop and one day, I decided to go back to Modern Warfare 1 for a day. I was playing and it crashed my entire computer! Once I got my computer running again, I went back in and found my original account back. All of my achievements, classes, and my beloved .50 cal. It's so weird. My account vanished and, about 4-5 months later, it shows back up again. I don't know what happened. But, I'm glad I have my original account back and now I'm gonna start playing MW1 again. MW2 is fun but there is soooo much camping and I'm surprised that I haven't met any =F|A= on there yet. Well, just thought that I would let you know. See you on the battlefield!

Sounds like your account just needed some "Me" time. You know, do some soul searching, get to know itself, maybe travel Europe. Glad to see it's come back!

hahahaha too funny! Yes MW2 is ok. It will be good when they put some cod4 maps in for mw2. catcha on the server!

OMFG! Now it's gone again! I got to play with my .50 cal for one day and then it vanished again! WTF?!?!?!? I'm not so sure about MW1 anymore. I'll try it and see how it goes but wow... this sucks. It's almost like it's toying with me...

To backup:

Backup the folder called "players" in your COD4 directory

C:\Program Files (x86)\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\players\

Note: You have to use the same key (you would do normally surely?)

To restore in XP:

Simply plonk it back in the same place, ensuring the folder in players\profiles which should be your username, matches the text inside the active.txt else it will not work

In vista it is different...I have just learnt...

C:\Users\"USERNAME"\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Pro gram Files (x86)\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\players\ would be its situation...do the same as above only at this location.

To backup in Vista just backup from the location above and restore using either method
