Moxie_01 Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Now all we need is someone with some SKILLZ behind the computer while we play COD4 Hey that's me! I'll use Converters computer! Quick question, why did you decide to use i5 processor instead of the i7? 1 Quote
LA_Kings_Fan Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 This is mainly a GAMING computer build ... and he wanted to keep the MAX Budget under $2000 ... for an extra $100+ dollars the i7-4770K gives you all of .1 GHz extra speed and Hyper Threading, over its i5-4670K counterpart. While the extra .1 Ghz is nice for gaming (more speed the better) it's NOT worth the extra price tag IMO ... and the Hyper Threading will only benefit someone doing more extensive 3D rendering programs like auto-cad, heavy-duty photo & video editing or audio/video transcoding/encoing and scientific applications, not so much in playing COD4 Therefore the extra $100 dollars was better spent on upgrading to a better Graphics card ... or adding an extra SSD drive, etc. IMO, which is what we did. I've got the older generation Sandy-Bridge i7-2600K ... and in retrospect my build would have been just as solid with the i5-2500K, in fact some people report the i5 chip overclocked better and faster than the i7 chip ? so The i7 chip ends up being more an e-peen thing than a real world performance boost in a gaming build. 2 Quote
A_Snake Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Cost was my reason for going with the i5 as I didn't see that much of a difference to warrant the extra funds. The extra funds were used to get an additional SSD. Converter - I like your new rig... You are unstoppable now and no one can kill you. Everyone calls you a hacker and rage quits since you started with the new setup, correct? 1 Quote
john14073 Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 Dude nice build! That's going to give you a comfortable gaming experience for quite some time. I'd say you wouldn't need any more ram, 16GB should be plenty if all you're doing on it is gaming. 1 Quote
