frag Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 I have an older Razor Copperhead optical mouse, connected via USB. I used to have another gaming keyboard before and they both worked fine. I recently switched to some Logitech keyboard I pulled from work. It's a cheapo Logitech made really for just office use. Not sure if this Logitech keyboard is sucking more juice from the USB ports but is it possible to have my Razor mouse cut out and stop working? I then hit this reset button underneath the mouse and it works sometimes. After a while, I have to unplug the damn thing (what a PITA) and plug it back in to work again. Should I be looking at a new mouse, new keyboard, or a USB hub that's powered? Quote
Higgeo Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Thats wired. If your loosing power whats your power supply? Quote
detoren Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Maybe your settings for usb are a bit off ? In Windows, click on Start > Control Panel (or Start > Settings > Control Panel). Double-click on System, then open the Hardware tab. Click Device Manager. Click the + at Universal Serial Bus Controllers. Right-click USB Root Hub and select Properties. Open the Power Management tab. Clear the checkmark from Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power. Click OK. Quote
frag Posted February 12, 2010 Author Posted February 12, 2010 It's a 450W power supply (probably a little underpowered but I don't have a super-duper video card. I'll definitely check on the properties tonight when I get home to see if that's the problem. I've never seen this before and it's the first I've encountered it. Thanks guys for the tips! Quote

frag Posted February 19, 2010 Author Posted February 19, 2010 That should work but i dont think that is the real reason. Thanks. Going to try that now. It cut out after I put my old keyboard back too. It just cut out less than normal but it's damn annoying. Could be I need to just replace the PC with an updated one with a clean copy of Windows 7 installed? Quote
frag Posted February 23, 2010 Author Posted February 23, 2010 Ha, I ended up picking up a Logitech G500 mouse. Works well and gotta get used to it (different DPI settings, weights, etc). Quote
