Ol Smoke Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Never heard of spies in COD4? Well from time to time there are spies in the game. Here is how they work this. I have seen this done many times. I think they do it just to piss us off. There are at least two players, but most of the time there are four or more. They are usually from another server. Two players join one team and the other two join the opposite team. These players are using headset communication with each other. Sometimes there is a 5th person sitting in spectating. The spectator finds a bottleneck area and sends two guys there. Then he tells the opposite guys where it will be. The first two guys lie down and block the doorways out of the area. This causes a backup of players in that room. The other two guys run up there and start nading the place, getting multiple kills. They keep doing this over and over. There are some maps where the spawn area is kind of a blocked off area. The two guys will lie down and block off the exit. The game doesnt recognize a problem so it keeps spawning players there. Then the other two guys rush up and smoke the place out, and nade it. I have seen them get as much as 12 or 13 kills at a time. When there are only two guys, they can use spectate and re-spawn to cause a problem. The spectator will fly around the map and tell the other guy where and when the enemy are coming into the area. When the player gets into a certain area, he will block a doorway. The spectator then joins the other team and works his way into the blocked area and boom....multiple kills. So be on the lookout for these spies and get them kicked as soon as you can. Then ban them forever. There are other spies who don't do the block thing, but know exactly where the enemy is at all times. He has a buddy in spec helping him out and they are talking to each other, over teamspeak or some program, or even cell phones. So when a player is just TOO good, then maybe he isn't on his own. Just saying. Quote
TuNNel-Rat Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Unfortunately this is not a new concept. There have been spies since the days of Medal of Honor Allied Assault. Quote
Ol Smoke Posted January 11, 2013 Author Posted January 11, 2013 The problem becomes...can we catch them? The problem is you can catch them doing this, but you can't do anyhting about it, because you can't team kill. Quote
EnderWiggin Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 You could always make it a private server. If that term is too radical, think of it as making a few conditions before a player is allowed in... like registering here first. Even a single condition could weed out a lot of undesirables. Quote
