K2D ratio is basically kills divided by deaths.

example: 10 kills and 2 deaths = 5 ratio

example: 43 kills and 17 deaths = 2,53 ratio

But i was thinking, i have 80 kills and 0 deaths on map A and 81 kills and 1 death on map B, which map would have the best Kills to Deaths ratio

Example Alpha

81 kills and 1 death = 81 ratio

80 kills and 0 deaths = 80 ratio (technically you can NOT divide by zero)

So the 81 kills map would have better ratio than the 80 kills map...

but in other example:

Example Beta

80 kills and 1 death = 80 ratio

81 kills and 2 deaths = 40,5 ratio

the difference between example Alpha and Beta is in both occasions only 1 death (0 vs 1 death | 1 vs 2 deaths).

This to me feels weird, because this means you don't have to really try to not get killed for good ratio, just don't get killed more than once. There is no bonus for 0 deaths?

Anyway, what is your interpretation to this?

I think K/D ratio is hard to move after playing a lot in the same server, so you must try to get funny instead of being watching if your K/D ratio moved, I know a lot of players try to have the higgest K/D ratio but there are players that worries more about the team and they have to die lol. As you said the important thing is to not get killed more than once, but if you want to have the same K/D ratio try to get your kills before going to a cross fire so you can get a better one

i understand what you mean and i totally agree, you shouldn't play for k/d ratio and i don't play for ratio, i have enough bad games and sometimes i want to get objective and die millions of times just to get the objective. But i find it weird that there is no difference between kills and 1 or 0 deaths.

If you are talking about silent mod, KR is Kill rating , its not a ratio.

For each kill you will be awarded points depending of the KR of your victim . The same goes for deaths.

So in a 1v1 , you will get better rating if you do 15/30 against a 5KR than 30/15 against a 0.50 KR.

It also takes into consideration alot of factors ( distance , maybe headshots etc).

Ok, so that's easier to answer, since silent's KD is far from being meaningful or well implemented (imho).

But, when it comes to Kills / Deats, I think you make a mistake here, and the mistake is thinking that it matters in the first place.

You probably should have asked: 'does it matter to look at your own kills/deaths ratio, and is it really a good index for players skill?' then it would have made sense. You take that for granted as a 'yes', and then you go on making some calculations.

If only Jaymod's damage calculation wasn't bugged, maybe damage given/received would be a better index, since:

1. you have more samples (every bullet that hits makes damage)

2. you cannot 'steal' damage, but you can 'steal' your team mates kills with crossfire

3. if someone almost kills you, and you are lucky enough to kill him, you still get a kill, but your damage ratio is close to 1

In general if someone is good, you know it. You don't need to look at numbers. And you can also tell the difference between players who are good in 1on1 or players who just camp and wait for the easy kill, players who are good at both, players who shoot well but then have poor tactics so they get killed always in 2vs1 etc.

Personally I would look at damage ratio and k/d together (but not on jaymod, since damage is bugged in the latest version of that mod)

For example, even damage but negative k/d means that you die a lot in 2vs1, etc. etc.
