Nokia Lumia 920 Durability Test

Nokia’s (NOKLumia 920 is a thick and heavy smartphone. While most people will look at that as a disadvantage, Nokia calls that durability. Depending on your point of view, the “durability test” performed by the guys at PhoneBuff may or may not make your jaw drop. In a series of four tests, the “tester” drives over a Lumia 920 with his car (with both wheels), smacks it with a wooden plank across a parking lot, tosses it into the air and lets it hit the pavement, and throws it against a light post. How much stress can the Lumia 920 withstand? The torture video follows below.

As you can see, the Lumia 920 is a tough little phone. It gets run over by a car and comes out alive — it even still turns on. But once it gets smacked like a baseball, it’s game over. Even while the wooden plank stops it from powering on, though, its screen comes out completely un-scratched and doesn’t even crack until it is thrown against a concrete light post.

The lesson here? The Lumia 920 could probably survive accidental drops in the shopping mall parking lot, but don’t expect to grab a few guys and play ball with it.
