Android In Cars iVIC

Accessories manufacturer VAIS Technology  is looking to spice up the market for in-car media interfaces by transforming your Android phone into an all-purpose vehicular entertainment system. VAIS specializes in integrating devices into in-car navigation systems. The company’s latest product is called iVIC (in-Vehicle Infotainment Center) for Android and it’s compatible with most Toyota and Lexus models from 2006 onward. The iVIC system currently supports the DROID Bionic, DROID RAZR/MAXX, Galaxy Note, Galaxy S III and the EVO 4G LTE, and it allows users to connect their Android phones directly into their in-car displays.

Using HDMI output, the iVIC system is able to mirror a compatible Android smartphone’s display, granting access to virtually any app from a car’s navigation system. Whether you are looking to call a friend, get directions or play a game of Angry Birds (not while driving of course), it can all be done through the navigation screen. The solution even allows users to control their Android devices using the car’s touchscreen so you don’t have to fumble with your phone.

Turning your car into a mobile entertainment system doesn’t come cheap, however — the iVIC for Android kit is being offered for $649. A video demonstration of the system follows below.
