I tried connecting to the TF2 server and I got a mesage that says "The server you are trying to connect to is running a older version." Is this a server thing or should I switch to a older version of the game?

sometimes you neeed to turn the steam off and back on :D

Either the server needs a reset because you have a new patch and it has the old one or you need to patch to get on the server.
