Terrible lag today?

I never, ever get lag on any of the F|A servers; this is one of the reasons I like them so much. But today for some reason, I was getting lag spiked on both Jay2 and Hardcore for no apparent reason. When I asked if others were having the same problem, some said yes, some no as usual.

 

I went through my whole system, checked all my settings, restarted my modem and router, restarted my computer, ran spybot and virus scans etc., and saw no improvement. I just wondered if there was a technical issue today? Or if I just somehow developed a problem over the last 24-48hrs...
