Joker
Hi! Today I got a better PC and ET runs smoothly but if map end and new map load it dies, it doesnt crash but lagometer is going crazy, every 10 second it refresh, sound is repeating then its all freezing. If I do /reconnect it loads map in no time and it runs smooth again. Here is two screenshot of lagometer Untill Monday I have a temporar winchester, there is nothing on it only to test the computer(only a graphics card driver is installed) ET running from USB stick, as admin. This is what is in the PC(Win 7 64 bit) CPU: Intel® Core2 Duo CPU E6750 @ 2.66Ghz 2.66Ghz Memory: 8GB Graphics Card: NVIDIA Geforce GTx 260 Since I'm a complete noob at this, please tell me every basic thing could help. Thanks! Joker
Waster
Is the usb stick close to full? If its on a stick remember that if the map isnt already on the usb drive it has to load it to the stick. Not sure why you wouldnt load ET to the harddrive you can delete the files easily enough. Other than that I have no other ideas why a clean computer would do that.
Joker
Copied ET to harddrive, first map loaded fine. Hope it fixed it. Thanks Waster
TulsaGeoff
Unless you have a very fast USB drive it will be bottlenecked badly. Since it is during a map load where the data is coming from the drive into your memory (RAM), that probably is the issue. The transfer speed is just too slow. USB sticks are just significantly slower than harddrives in general.
