(There was talk of this even years ago, in 2003. Can't find the msnbc interview..)

 

Descendants of extinct mammals like the giant woolly mammoth might one day walk the earth again. It isn't exactly Jurassic Park, but Japanese researchers are looking at the possibility of using sperm from frozen animals to inseminate living relatives.

 

 

So far they've succeeded with mice — some frozen as long as 15 years — and lead researcher Dr. Atsuo Ogura says he would like to try experiments in larger animals.

(One Expert says only our grandchildren, and maybe not even that, will be able to see many Woolly mammoths in a natural habitat.)

Definately think that seeing woolly mammoths roam the earth again would be cool, it's only to bad I wont be around to see it :(

Well, they said you might be able to see a baby one in 5-10 (or 15) years, but not a whole pack of them.
