While at GamesCom 2011 in Cologne, Germany, Battlefield 3 garnered a lot of attention, so the fine folks at DICE created a definitive rundown of Battlefield 3 at GamesCom. The Battlefield 3 booth was the single biggest setup DICE has ever had, making for an extraordinary experience. At one point, there was a projected 12 hour wait to play Battlefield 3, with the line stretching across the entire hall of the show floor. Along with that, this post has all the awards, news and exclusive interviews seen for BF3, making it something not to miss. Take a look at the video below for a taste of what to expect, and to read the full blog post detailing all of the awesome activity from GamesCom, you can read the full post right here.

While at Evoke 2011, DICE’s own Kenny Magnusson held a seminar talking about some of the finer points of the Frostbite 2 game engine. In his seminar, Magnusson went into deep detail talking about some of the technical aspects of the engine, specifically, the visual elements. There’s quite a bit to talk about when it comes to rendering and lighting capabilities in the engine, and Kenny covered a huge piece of the tech side of things, covering particle lighting, dynamic radiosity, and high dynamic range, making for a fascinating and seminar that gives some excellent insight to the game development process.
