Hey fellow gamers, this isn't spam. I feel its pretty important and it's something that has really benefited me. During my search to start obtaining a good credit score I came across two websites that are absolutely free to use without purchasing anything. Most websites to check your credit claim they are free, but will charge $10-20 per month after an initial trial period. If someone knows how to check their Equifax score for free I'd be interested.

Credit Karma is my favorite site. Since I first started in May I've raised my score about 100 points into a good rating and it is still climbing every month. The credit bureau the site uses is TransUnion. Today I recently applied for a Chase Freedom card with $250 Cash bonus for spending $500 in the first 3 months, no annual fee or anything. Not bad! Months ago I had to start with a "starter" credit card. The site updates every month and will plot your scores on a graph. Hopefully in a few months I'll be able to obtain a Discover Cash Rewards.

This website is completely free as well and looks somewhat similar. It is pretty damn good as well. I've noticed it takes somewhat longer for it to update your credit score. This website uses the Experian credit bureau. I just checked it and now I see I've sky rocketed to an excellent rating :)

Just FYI - Having a Capital One - Journey card and utilizing on 10-30% of my pitiful $500 credit line (optimal debt ratio) and one Kohl's store card are what I can attribute to "power leveling" my credit score LoL.I always paid the amount off prior to any billing cycles coming due.

It is important to have good credit, and you will end up paying less on any loan. I hope someone finds these tools helpful. It is never too early to start earning credit and taking control of your score.
