KingCamper Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 so the last 2 nights i've been having trouble with I think my usb ports. I have a acer laptop for walmart. its has 3 usb ports, I use one for my internet card, and one for my mouse. 2 night ago my mouse kept turning off. thought my wire had worn out. Then last night my mouse and internet card would shut off at the sametime. Only happend while playin COD4. After i stoped playin and was just messin on the internet I didn't have any problems. I did a trouble shoot on the usb ports and all shows to be working right and all up to date. and help would be super thanx in advance. p.s tried both mouse and internet card in all port with same results. AntiThought Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 hmmm If this only happens while you play CoD4 it sounds to me like their could be a corrupt driver for your mouse and/or internet card. Could also be a corrupt game file messing with the others' drivers. I would reinstall and update (if available) any drivers for your devices. If that does not work I would save my players folder and reinstall CoD4. If that does not work, it only happening while playing CoD4, could have been a coincidence and you could have a computer component going bad or a wire that is pulling lose around the USB. Try the first 2 solutions if you still have a problem or the problem gets worse post more information and I will see if I can figure out what is going wrong. Quote
KingCamper Posted February 2, 2011 Author Posted February 2, 2011 sounds good man i'll try it if that don't work I may try a BFH even though I know that willn't fix it but cod is like my crack. Quote
SkyeDarkhawk Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Open up your device manager and check for any devices with a yellow triangle with an exclamation point in it. If so, right click on it and select Uninstall, when it's done reboot your computer. You might want to check Windows Updates for any hardware updates. Check Acer's website for any driver updates for your computer. It sounds like your internal USB hub is being overpowered, you might want to double check your power cord, play with your battery out, or get a powered USB hub to connect your devices to. Quote
