hobbit Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 yeah saturday will be the 65th anniversary of D-Day. my grandfather helped collected the dog tags from the dead soliders in normandy. needless to say he doesn't talk about it much but what an important day in american history! Not only American dude. Its true Americans led the assault but they werent the only ones. Their were soldiers from all the Allied countries there, dying, but they don't get honored as much by the citizens of the U.S. as they should. Sometimes people in the U.S. forget that their were people who fought longer than America. Quote
SiLeNT Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 that is very true! i mean think of all the young german boys who were just fighting for their country and what they thought was a righteous cause. plenty of them perished there as well. guess what i'm saying is that to me all soldiers deserved to be remembered and honored whether they r american or not. didn't mean to come off as some nationalistic prick. ps. is nationalistic even a word Quote
hobbit Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 yes it is and again it wasnt only german boys but Polish, Russian and the like. Guess i'm only going at this so much is cuz im Polish and have a lot of pride in that  Quote
