MedicKilla Posted June 24 Posted June 24 Does anyone have any instructions where and how to place .wav sound pack files in an ET server with ssh in terminal? I know I have to download them to my computer but then I'm lost. I am running Linux and so is our server. We run the silent mod as well. Any help with needing to zip the files and where/how to place them in the right location with terminal commands like "ps -ef|grep etl" for instance. I'm new to server work. I'm looking to replace our vanilla server sounds with the sound packs including mmmmonster kill, godlike, etc. Name: [EPTG] silEnT!! Location: United States Protocol: ET 2.60b Mod: silEnT 0.9.0 Gametype: Map-Voting Server version: ET Legacy v2.83.2 linux-i386 Quote
ET Member RNGesus Posted June 25 ET Member Posted June 25 MOBA Xterm will almost entirely resolve this issue for you. However I do strongly suggest familiarizing your self with the Linux operating system should you be interested in servers. Most distros have no GUI so learning how to cd and cp and ls some extremely basic things should be something you should seek to learn. A very nice list is available at https://www.linux.org/threads/the-ultimate-list-of-linux-terminal-commands.57914/ 1 Quote
MedicKilla Posted June 26 Author Posted June 26 Thank you. Some great information. Does anyone have a step by step, command by command guide for moving the sound packs from my computer to the server in the correct files in terminal with ssh? I'm new to helping on our server but I want to be able to help customize things in our ET server. Quote

If you have SSH Moba Xterm provides an issue gui for file structure and a built in ftp transfer client this will resolve your issues. Quote
Shoresy Posted June 27 Posted June 27 Basically what @RNGesus is trying to explain is that there is a program called MobaXterm. Use this to SSH into the server and this program will offer other valuable solutions to your issues you're having. Such as "Click and drag" features. Additionally, I found some answers regarding this using the link that he previously shared to show that the resources are here as well. I would recommend following the steps and learning the basics of Linux first Using scp to transfer files between computers. | Linux.org I too am new to using Linux and Rngesus himself has been a huge help towards me learning all of this. But I suggest taking the time and doing tons of reading! This was advice that he also gave to me, and I am finding it to be the best advice! 😄 1 Quote
MedicKilla Posted June 27 Author Posted June 27 MobaXterm is not available for Linux. I can't use it. Quote

If so Tabby is fantastic and essentially the open source xterm however should you choose wine runs xterm perfectly Edited June 27 by RNGesus Quote
MedicKilla Posted June 30 Author Posted June 30 Yes. Linux to Linux or website (copy link) to Linux server. Another server admin and I are trying to add custom sound pack to the silent mod server only through ssh on terminal but we can't find where the wav files are in which cfg folder. Quote

They are delivered via a pk3 Quote
MedicKilla Posted June 30 Author Posted June 30 Ok. I found some detailed info elsewhere with more detailed explanation. I think it'll work better. Thank you everyone. Quote
