Apple cannot confirm that "ET Legacy" does not contain malware that could harm your Mac or your privacy.

Hi Romash,

You should be able to bypass that in the system settings. Here's a link on how to do that (use at your own risk of course!): https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/apple-cant-check-app-for-malicious-software-mchleab3a043/mac

I'm no expert, but I did install ET Legacy on a M3 macbook pro and the Mac OS version is very limited. I believe it can only connect to to ETL servers, so no Jaymod, Silent, NQ. I haven't kept up on any Mac OS related updates for it, but the FAQ page for ET Legacy still shows a lot of limitations. There may be some workarounds with virtual Windows options on the Mac, but short of running bootcamp which you can no longer do on non-intel macs, I haven't used anything that provided great gaming results. I'd be happy to hear otherwise from anyone else who has tried this!

So most mods (Jay, Silent, NQ) are 32-bit and Apple dropped support for 32-bit when in 2019 when the Catalina OS came out. Therefore the only ET Legacy version that can run other mods is the 32-bit version and the only ETL version that current Mac OS supports is 64-bit so it's either one or the other - use an old mac and access all the servers or use a new mac and only access ETL servers. Mac's ARM64 architecture (including M1, M2, M3, M4, M5), as the name implies, only runs 64-bit. so you can't downgrade your OS on a newer machine.

Your best options are either use Parallels Desktop to run Windows as a virtual machine and launch ET from there (which is what I do) or try and use a program called PlayOnMac (essentially a compatibility layer and emulator) to install the windows version.

If you're pretty tech savvy you can try using Apple's relatively recently released Game Porting Toolkit to install the Windows version. The program is meant to make it easier for developers to test and develop Mac ports while taking advantage of Apple's powerful Metal graphics system but it can also be used to play some games pretty well.
