I spent a little time last night trying to get 32bit Legacy running on my laptop with little luck. I was hoping someone a little more knowledgeable with Legacy in linux or linux itself might be able to point me into the right direction.

Laptop - Latitude 7320 detachable. (not going to be playing, just hanging out)

OS - Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS

I was able to get 64bit running with no issues using a snap package, unfortunately I couldn't find one for 32. https://github.com/etlegacy/etlegacy-snap

For 32 I've tried using the installer which automatically adds all binaries, pak1/2/3, and using the archive and manually adding the binaries with the same issue.  https://github.com/etlegacy/etlegacy/wiki/Linux

When I try to run Legacy using the exe (etl.i386) nothing happens. When I run it using the terminal I get "bash: ./etl.i386: cannot execute: required file not found". I don't know what file is possibly missing or how to get more information to find out which one. I have the directory installed in Home/Documets/etlegacy-v2.83.2.i386. I know in Windows Legacy is split between two locations which it isn't in linux, or at least from the way I installed it, no idea if that has anything to do with it.

Any help gets rewarded with a pic of my dog. Thanks!

do you have the 32 libraries enabled?

try this:

sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386

sudo apt update

sudo apt install libc6:i386 libstdc++6:i386 zlib1g:i386

Ran those commands and checked after, all three lib's are now there and the latest version. This did get me one step closer to running the game, it finally gave me some info when it failed!

Seems like the main profile is missing, according to this. Maybe try importing an existing one.

Seems a well detailed full install for ubuntu: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Wolfenstein%3A Enemy Territory

at least they state very clearly all the dependencies:

libasound2-plugins libdrm2:i386 libexpat1:i386 libglu1-mesa:i386 libgl1:i386 libsdl2-2.0-0:i386

(they showcase with ubuntu 23 ... pretty safe to assume it works with the v24 aswell)

Think the solution for the last bit is what Element said : install the opengl

but check all the others aswell

With Linux you have 2 main ET directories one in home visible where the executable file is.

Other one is hidden directory  .etlegacy if you did not correctly extracted files you can get this message.

Let me know if you can not solve issue.

Got it working. Seems I overlooked one last lib from the list @LarrY provided. Thanks everyone for your help!
