Mac dropped 32 bit support, which unfortunately means to play you need an OS from before the change over.

 

If memory serves the last that they had 32 bit support in is high sierra, but I might be wrong.

 

You'd either need to partition your drive so that you have two different versions of MacOS you can boot into, and boot into the one with 32 bit support when you want to play ET, or use virtual box and run ET through a VM of MacOS with 32 bit support.

 

I'd go with the partition option personally, I can't say I expect a VM to get performance sufficient to play an FPS.
