  1. I'm with Bondage on this, metal is where it's at. My absolute favorite is probably Behemoth, but Decapitated, 1349, The Berzerker, Gorgoroth, and Anaal Nathrakh (among others) are all close seconds. I also enjoy some EBM, especially with metal elements, such as Psyclon Nine, along with more pure EBM like Grendel, Life Cried, or Taktical Sekt. And I should be seeing Belphegor in a couple of weeks!
  2. I signed. This is idiotic. I like the idea of a matchmaking service, but not allowing any dedicated servers is just stupid. These servers keep games alive long after their developers lose interest (about 3 months, usually), foster community and growth, encourage competitive gameplay among clans and leagues... Someone, along the line, needs to get fired for this.
  3. I never bothered using the R700, but instead went straight for the .50. I can't imagine using any other sniper rifle than it, though, as I'm used to the head roll and recoil with it, and can get quite a few kills. On a related note, how many other snipers out there don't hold their breath?
  4. Your name is Bondage Goat Zombie, and you didn't list Belphegor? For shame! I've gotta say, though, few bands on your list are known to me. You seem pretty into death, though. Have you heard Decapitated? Cryptopsy? Skinless? Big names, so you probably have, but just throwin' 'em out there.
  5. I want killcam enabled for an unforeseen reason: when you're dead and in killcam-mode, you can quickly switch classes and be ready to go immediately. I don't know how many of you switch classes mid map, or do so after you die, but I do sometimes and it's nice to spawn with the weapon you want to use, not wait until you die again. And if your desired game speed makes killcam slow things down too much, try laying off the caffeine .
  6. Doubling up on a video card depends more on what size screen you have & what game engines you're running than it does on what card you double up on. As a general rule, you don't need to SLI / Crossfire for a single screen until it's >21"; otherwise, bar a few game engines (such as the Source engine), you won't see much, if any, improvement. An 8800GT is still a great deal, and if you're running a single-screen setup, it should still last you a while. If you're going to have multiple screens, then multiple cards are probably the most efficient way to run 'em. But if you must upgrade now and your screen is smaller than around 21", then I'd suggest you look into the latest ATI setups, as they've gotten quite good and can be a bit cheaper than NVidia.
  7. I'm a huge metalhead, mostly of the black & death metal varieties. Top 5 favorite bands: Behemoth Decapitated 1349 Anaal Nathrakh Psyclon Nine - an industrial band had to sneak in there, but they have some black metal influences too Favorite song is "Mother North" by Satyricon. And I'll leave you with a music video - "Sculptor of Flesh" by 1349.
  8. If you're going to get a second monitor, you might want to double up on the video cards and have each one power its own screen. This would probably require a PSU upgrade, to about a minimum of 1k watts. Water cooling is safe if you know how to do it, but that does involve a lot of research and a bit of testing before installing the system. If you're not going to overclock, you might not find the investment worth it. Both air and water systems can only cool your computer to room temps, though, so if your room is baking at 110 degrees F, your machine is going to suffer unless you put phase-change cooling on it (or put in an air conditioner). An efficient are system in a good case (good case being defined as one that has well-placed fans and good cable management) should be good enough for almost any setup unless you start to overclock.
  9. If you can connect to the internet on that computer, then it's an issue on how you're connecting to the game. Open up the command prompt and type in: ping . Be sure to actually put the server IP, not , or we'll laugh at you. If you can ping it, then something is blocking your connection on your computer. If you can't, then it's some other issue. Make sure your game is on the correct version. Try connecting without a firewall turned on, also, as those can often mess up connections (especially Windows firewall). Hmmm... that's all I can think of right now. Give us a update on what you've done that people have suggested, what the exact error is, and we can help you some more.
  10. It is very well done. I remember the feeling the first time I left the vault to explore the wasteland, and just looking at it and thinking, "Holy crap." It really brings the feeling of post-apocalypse into the game. However, I also didn't feel there was a lot to do outside the main quest. Unlike Oblivion, there are no organizations (such as the guilds) to easily set you up with a series of quests, so each one must be found on its own. I also can't find a whole lot of variety in character building, as I don't think many builds different from what I used would be fun or effective, especially during the early game.
  11. 1) Barret & Gold Deagle, with bandolier, stopping power, deep impact, and a smoke grenade 2) AK 47 w/ RDS, gold deagle, RPG, juggernaut, conditioning & a flash grenade 3) M1014 w/ grip, gold deagle (see a trend in the pistols?), juggernaut & conditioning, with a flash grenade That's all I really use. I start most maps with the sniper rifle, and if I can't get any good sniping done, I switch to the AK unless it's a small map. Pretty simple.
