It's the perfect tool for managing multiple accounts, and a great way to store your messages locally. Aside from all the standard stuff, it has the added extension functionality that Mozilla products are famed for. It also has lots of nice touches, such as the attachment reminder, which prompts you to attach a file if you've mentioned it in your message but forgotten to actually clip it to the email. In terms of layout, Thunderbird follows Firefox's lead and has a handy tabbed interface.
